This is the End. In December 2019, there were big news and emotions in the Sky Room of the Clarion Hotel Helsinki. One of the most internationally successful Finnish bands, Sunrise Avenue, had decided to call it a day.
Fronted by Samu Haber, Sunrise Avenue is one of the most internationally successful Finnish bands. When the band decided to call it a day, we believed it was international news and deserved to be treated as such.
In December 2019, Mellakka organised an international press conference for Sunrise Avenue over the rooftops of Helsinki. In addition to the media, the band’s fans from all over Europe were invited to the event. The goal was to show the scale of the news, convey the atmosphere of the band’s decision and leave a high-quality digital footprint of the event.
News about the end of Sunrise Avenue was streamed live across Europe through the band’s channels, and the band performed its farewell concert two nights in a row at the sold-out Olympic Stadium in Helsinki. The band’s frontman Samu Haber later stated that the stadiums could not have been filled without Mellakka’s contribution.
”Stadiums across Europe couldn’t have been filled if the Mellakka team hadn’t come up with the idea of an international press conference and implemented it with such brilliance. I rarely meet professionals who have a bold and creative mind and at the same time the ability to bring their visions to the finish line.
My collaboration with Mellakka does not end with the termination of Sunrise Avenue. I want my “hockey team” to continue to have a creative and reliable centre with whom I can brainstorm under the helmet all the time and who I can rely on when the opponent is on a roll. And with whom it’s fun to play!”
